Similar to the Central Park of New York or Hyde Park of London, Tiergarten Park serves as Berlin's green lung. With its origins dating back to 16th century, Berlin's Tiergarten has long loomed big in residents' minds as a gathering spot and a source of much-needed green space. The woodland grounds extend about 210 hectares, or roughly 519 acres. Boars and pheasants no longer roam the area, and in their place, lakes, hiking trails, English gardens, and even a biergarten draw runners, bikers, and sunbathers.

It is close to the city centre and surround famous landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate or Potsdamer Platz.

Things to do at Tiergarten Park:

Unwind in the lap of nature: Berlin's Tiergarten Park is a major gathering place for walkers, skaters, bikers, and those who just want to relax in the sun. The park's expansive green lawns are a favourite for family picnics, sporting events, or just relaxing and taking it easy - the perfect location to recharge your batteries after a long day of sightseeing or shopping.

The English Garden, monuments, and a beer garden all encompass in this park: In addition to having broad green areas and meandering walkways lined with trees, Tiergarten Park is also the location of several noteworthy memorials as well as political and cultural landmarks.

1. The Soviet War Memorial and the Global Stone Peace Project are both beside the Brandenburg Gate.

2. The arts and exhibition centre Haus der Kulturen der Welt is ideally situated on the banks of the River Spree farther into the park.

3. To the west of Bellevue Palace, the President of Germany's official home, lies the Office of the Federal President.

4. The Victory Column (Siegessäule), which offers sweeping views of the city, is also located here.

5. The Tea House is also close by and has a lovely patio with views of the beautiful parks.

6. The Café am neuen See, to the south, is situated on the edge of a tiny lake despite being a waterside position.

7. The café's beer garden is available virtually all year long, and if the weather is too chilly for you to sit outdoors, you may warm up inside by the fire.

8. Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg memorials and the German Resistance Memorial Center are also close by and can be reached on foot from here.

On a Sunday throughout the summer, Tiergarten Park visitors could hear the sound of a carillon. The carillon at Tiergarten Park was constructed next to the current Haus der Kulturen der Welt and was inaugurated in 1987 as part of Berlin's 750th anniversary festivities. The 68 bells in the 42-meter-tall tower make it the fourth-largest carillon in the whole globe.

Museum of Outdoor Gas Lanterns will sooth uyou with golden beauty: In the past, and in certain places now, gas lanterns were used to light Berlin's streets. In 1978, a public museum was built adjacent to Tiergarten S-Bahn station to honour this classic kind of street lighting. Currently, the collection includes around 100 gas lanterns from Berlin. The park walks are illuminated with a gentle golden light when evening comes and the lanterns are turned on.

Work up an appetite: Don't miss Berlin's most beautiful and romantic biergarten, Café am Neuen See, where couples may enjoy a pint, a pizza, and a paddle onboard a rowboat on the lake, as well as the well-kept English Garden and teahouse.

In the neighborhood: Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall Memorial, Potsdamer Platz, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, and the Zoological Garden are nearby attractions.
